Page One of my homemade art journal

This is page one in my homemade art journal. I am doing it like Shari Carrols top folding journal pages. I did a lot of collaging and using my distress paints. With the flash on you can see I used that pearlescent powder, lol cant remember the name of it. Very fun page, especially since its very much out of my comfort zone as far as colors. This is my mixed media project for Frosted Designs.

Bright and fun Birdhouse

Challenges:
The ABC Challenge:V is for Vibrant
Card Mania:Buttons
The Paper Girls Challenge:Anything Goes
Simply Create Too:Shop in your Craft Room
Incy Wincy Designs:Buttons and Bling

Simply Create Too had a shop from your stash challenge and thats exactly what I did. I got this birdhouse  from Goodwill while we were still living in Florida. I cleaned and sanded it. Then I painted it with Gesso. I then painted it mostly green but with hints of white and blue. Then I started adding all kinds of flowers, lace, feathers, buttons and metal pieces I have had for quite a while. I made a doily into a nest and added a bird I found at the Dollar Tree. I took some blingy garland I got ages ago at Michaels and made it look like fairy lights.

here you can see I added a bit of burlap

My Mom in Pictures

I made this scrapbook page using pictures of my mom from many many (okay I will stop now) years ago. The paper is a older stack from DCWV called  Bella Boutique. I had a black and white stack that I thought about using but thought this looked so much better with the photos. I am entering this into the anything goes challenge at Simon Says and dig deep into your stash challenge from Crafty Creations

I used the Stuck sketch to do a double page spread for my two grandsons Silas and Sparrow. There are no pictures because I dont have them printed yet. I punched out several crowns and glued them together to make a bigger embellishment. I stamped several boy and baby things out onto watercolor paper. My favorite embellishment are the canvas stars.

Dancing in Bubbles

I took this great set of pictures of my niece Jordan when she was four years old and made a scrapbook page. She is wearing her favorite watermelon dress. For two years every picture I got of her she was wearing this dress lol. My brother said she wore it till it was just a long shirt on her.

I did three layers for the background paper. Its been my goal to use some of my stickers or get rid of them. I did give away a ton of them, but I have used some on my last three projects. Here I used some word stickers I have had for around 8 years. I added a cute little watermelon fabric sticker in homage to her watermelon dress. I added some little bubbles that came with some puffy fish stickers. The circle paper that is the middle layer and the back layer of the title and journal are both glitter paper. I have been seeing Jennifer McGuire use a lot lately and got me inspired to use some.

My Sketch Saturday card for my mom

I followed the Sketch Saturday sketch to make a card for my mom. She is in a nursing home for a few months for intense physical therapy and she has been working so hard. Also she has lost a lot of weight and shes so proud when she calls to tell me how much shes lost that week. So this is my encouragement card for her. Love you mom.

What I have been up too lately!

I have three projects to show you today. This first one is a vase that is an unglazed porcelain vase. It was white with red ribbon and roses and white pearls. I didnt care for it so I pulled everything except the bottom pearls off of it and painted it all peach. I didnt have peach paint so I just mixed some light pink with yellow. I even painted over the pearls around the bottom. I added some cream lace and then some rosette trim in peach that I have been hoarding for while.  I added some peach and cream roses and crystal sprays and peachy pink leaves. I had this squishy foam that some brads came in, I cut some off and stuffed it down inside the top and it gave me a place to stick some of my stickpins.
Challenges:
Crafty Calendar-petals and pearls
 Crafty Catz-anything goes

My next project is a wooden fan that my brother got me from a chinese restaurant. I painted it white with streaks of blue and cream. I added brown rosette trim and tons of pearls and flowers. Including this big blue acrylic flower I have been hoarding for awhile. I added a silver and pearl tassel I have been saving for something special. (special thank you to my darling hubby for holding it up for me)

My third project was inspired by the extremely talented xannero1. She made a Graphic 45 Typography desk and in it she made little books and they are so darling and easy as all get out to make. I linked to the tutorial. So I just had to make a couple for myself. I used white paper on the inside because I am going to add some quotes or journaling. They measure 2inches and 2 1/4 inches tall. They are made with one strip of 1 3/4 x 12 inch cardstock, three pieces of chipboard, (from the back of a paper pack), washi tape to hold pieces together and then a couple of tiny piece of paper to decorate the outside. I think I will make some tiny bookmarks to go in them.

My tag has the blues

Challenges:
Crafty Calendar-things with wings
Delightful Challenges-bloom
Crafty Ribbons-anything with ribbon
Simply Create Too-no digis or stamped images
Crafty Catz-B is for (blue, butterflies)
Totally PaperCrafts-tag it

I did a tag in the same way I did my canvas the other day. I cut a tag from some packaging, think it was from my husbands miniatures he paints. I started with the letters, I used Tim Holtz letterpress letters. I used the letters without the squares last time, but this time I them they way he intended. I love the way it makes them look. I added some dimensional chipboard sticker butterflies and flowers. Then I added some gems to be the leaves. I had this row of stars, I cut it in two to be a trail from the butterflies. I painted everything with gesso, then sprayed with Pastel blue from Recollections. To keep up the stars, I added this star ribbon and a small piece of dotted sheer ribbon to tie it.

Tim Holtz Grunge Block-tip I got this at Tuesday Morning for 2.99
